The Negros Occidental provincial government had already reached out to the management of Alfredo E. Marañon Sr. Memorial District Hospital (AEMSMDH) in Sagay City after it reached its bed-capacity last Saturday, January 21.
Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said among the assistance they can give to the management of AEMSMDH is making nearby hospitals available for the referral of their patients.
Lacson said the management should also coordinate with the provincial government as to their other needs, even though the hospital is under the jurisdiction of the Sagay City government.
Earlier, provincial administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz said they have reached out to AEMSMDH after the hospital filled up its 70-bed capacity.
According to the hospital’s announcement, the number of patients coming into the emergency room has greatly increased.
As a result, the triage tent and all of its wards were fully occupied.
The hospital has already released an advisory to the public to look for other alternative hospitals in the area.
Most of those admitted were reported to be ill with pneumonia and gastroenteritis./DGB, WDJ
