The ferry trips between Negros Occidental’s San Carlos City and Cebu’s Toledo City resumed yesterday morning.

Commander Jansen Benjamin, operations chief of Coast Guard District Western Visayas, said the trips resumed at around 10:00 a.m., based on the explanations provided to them by the captains of M/V FastCat M10 and M/V Lite Ferry 2.

With regards to their earlier suspension, sea conditions in Negros Occidental have been manageable.

However, on the side of Toledo City, they were unable to dock safely due to rough sea conditions, which they decided not to push through with their trips last Thursday, January 12.

Prior to the resumption of sea trips yesterday, the number of stranded passengers climbed to 55.

Benjamin said the trips between the cities of Sagay and Escalante to Cebu province’s Tabuelan town have remained normal since Thursday.

Meanwhile, sea trips between Cadiz City and Cebu’s Bantayan Island were also suspended due to rough sea conditions.

According to the state weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), at 10:00 a.m. yesterday, a low pressure area was spotted 85 kilometers east of Surigao Del Sur’s Hinatuan town.

Forecasts show that the western and central portion of Visayas will continue to experience light to moderate with at times heavy rains.

Sea conditions will be moderate to rough, PAGASA said./DGB, WDJ
