The president of the Association of Chief Executives (ACE) in Negros Occidental supports the call of Interior Secretary Benjamin “Benhur” Abalos, Jr. for high-ranking personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to file their courtesy resignations amid the renewed controversy of some being involved in illegal drugs.

ACE-Negros Occidental president and Victorias City Mayor Javier Miguel Benitez said it has been his clear stance that the administration abhors all illegal drug activities.

Benitez acknowledged the boldness of the Interior Secretary, amid the frustrations and disappointment with the illegal drug campaign.

In a press conference recently, Abalos urged all high-ranking PNP officials to submit their courtesy resignations, as part of the PNP’s “internal narco purge.”

A committee of five members would be tasked to review the profile of the police official.

The PNP personnel will only be removed from the service if the committee approves the resignation.

Dismissal and disciplinary actions were also handed down to more than 2,600 errant cops, the PNP said./DGB, WDJ
