Former Negros Occidental’s Ilog town mayor Benigno “Boy” Gequillana passed away on New Year’s Day at the Bacolod Adventist Medical Center.

Gequillana had been battling non-hodgkin’s lymphoma cancer for six years, according to information released by his family.

Gequillana served as the town’s mayor from 1988 to 1998.

He was among the Board of Directors of the Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative, and also became the Assistant Treasurer for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines-Negros Occidental./DGB, WDJ
