The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has so far not recorded any stray bullet or illegal discharge of firearm incidents during the New Year’s Day revelry in the province as of yesterday.
Hopefully, wala [na incidents],” NOCPPO spokesperson, Police Lt. Judesses Catalogo said.
Meanwhile, the province recorded a total of seven firecracker-related injuries as of yesterday morning.
Two firecracker-related injuries were logged in the province’s Kabankalan City, Catalogo said.
The NOCPPO spokesperson noted one of the victims suffered an injury after the firecracker he held exploded, while a bystander was also hit by a stray firecracker.
In Candoni town, a five-year-old suffered burns due to a sparkler.
Other towns and cities in the province also reported firecracker-related injuries, including Bago City with two, while Victorias City and Isabela town had one each./DGB, WDJ
