A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) in southern Negros Occidental surrendered to the police on Friday morning, December 23.
The former NPA member, a resident of Barangay Culipapa in the province’s Hinoba-an town, heeded the call of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict to surrender and avail of the government’s program for returnees, the municipal police said.
However, he has a pending arrest warrant for attempted murder issued by the Kabankalan City Regional Trial Court in February of this year.
Police said that he would still be able to avail of the aid as soon as he has cleared up the charges against him./DGB, WDJ
