Negros Occidental has the highest growth rate in Western Visayas in 2021, data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) recently showed.

Based on the PSA’s report regarding Provincial Product Accounts in the region from 2018 to 2021, the province posted a 1.9 percent growth rate.

Meanwhile, Iloilo City and Iloilo province have a point contribution of one percent each.

Negros Occidental also posted the highest share in the region’s economy in 2021 with 26.4 percent, followed by Iloilo province with 21.7 percent.

Among the highly urbanized cities in the region, Iloilo City got a 15.1 percent share, followed by Bacolod City with 13.8 percent./DGB, WDJ
