As Christmas Day is just around the corner this coming weekend, the Department of Health in Western Visayas (DOH-6) reminded Negrenses to eat moderately.
Dr. Mary Ann Sta. Lucia, DOH-6 violence and injury prevention alliance coordinator, said the public should take caution against food poisoning when attending parties.
Sta. Lucia advised to eat lechon (roasted pig) in moderation, pointing out that the number of cardiovascular disorders such as high blood pressure, stroke and heart attacks become frequent during the season.
The DOH-6 also encouraged the residents in the province to find other ways to create noise without the use of firecrackers during the New Year revelry.
Avoid using “torotot” as these could easily transmit the virus, Sta. Lucia said.
She pointed out most of the firecracker-related injuries from last year were those between 11 and 20 years old.
Parents should always supervise their children to avoid these injuries, she said./DGB, WDJ
