Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson is hoping that the next leader of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) will not be a hardliner, following the passing of their founder Jose Maria “Joma” Sison.
According to Lacson, Sison’s successor must be more serious in pursuing peace with the government and reject the armed struggle as the only option.
Earlier, the governor stated that Sison’s passing should also be the signal for the CPP to end their armed revolution.
He expects the CPP will announce its new leader in the coming days./DGB, WDJ
