The landowner who survived a slay attempt in a parking lot of a shopping mall in Bacolod City last December 15, had received prior threats, police said.
Police Major Ramel Sarona said the alleged target of the shooting attempt is identified as 72-year-old Cesar Ledesma, a real-estate developer and resident of the city’s Barangay Alijis.
According to Sarona, at the time of the incident, Ledesma had just opened his car door when the still unidentified suspects opened fire.
The gunmen instead hit the vehicle’s glass window, while another shot hit the vehicle owned by Negros Occidental’s Valladolid town Vice Mayor Roel Yogore.
The police recovered two empty bullet casings of unknown caliber at the crime scene.
Investigators are also reviewing the closed-circuit television cameras in the area which could help identify the suspects./DGB, WDJ
