A Grade 10 student was killed after being run over by a cane truck along the national highway in Negros Occidental’s E.B. Magalona town on Thursday afternoon, December 15.
Police identified the fatality as Kevin Liscano, a resident of the said town.
Police Major Kenneth Jay Gratones, municipal police chief, said Liscano and his fellow classmates were heading home after attending a Christmas party at the time of the incident.
As Liscano and his friend were about to cross the highway, the traffic enforcer saw an approaching cane truck driven by 40-year-old Dante Sebugero.
The enforcer signaled Sebugero to either slow down or stop his truck.
However, he allegedly continued to speed up, causing him to run over Liscano.
The truck crushed Liscano’s head.
The enforcer managed to escape to the side.
Meanwhile, Gratones also noted that prior to the incident, a motorcycle driver complained to police that he was also nearly run over by Sebugero.
Sebugero is currently detained and due to undergo a drug test./DGB, WDJ
