The Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Negros Occidental’s Silay City is now classified as a Level 2 hospital by the Department of Health.
Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson revealed yesterday morning that TLJPH is now offering additional medical services.
The hospital now has an intensive care unit, including neonatal, high risk pregnancy, pulmonary, and pedia units.
Last June 29 of this year, former President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act 11890, or an act increasing the capacity of the hospital from 100 to 300 beds, and appropriating funds for its operations.
The law also mandates the provincial government to provide the necessary funds to cover the maintenance and other operating expenses of the TLJPH.
“It shall also appropriate funds to support the increase in bed capacity and the corresponding upgrading of its facilities and professional health care services,” the law stated.
The province will target to improve other government-run hospitals such as the Cadiz District Hospital, and the Lorenzo Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City./DGB, WDJ
