The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has begun inspecting all firecracker stalls as part of Oplan Ligtas Kapaskuhan 2022, which will begin on Friday, December 16, the first day of Simbang Gabi.

NOCPPO spokesperson, Police Lt. Judesses Catalogo said all firecracker sellers in the province must adhere to safety regulations.

The inspection also aims to prevent vendors from selling illegal firecrackers and could minimize and prevent any firecracker-related injuries in the province during the celebration of the holiday season.

Meanwhile, Catalogo appealed to parents to discipline and monitor their children with regards to using firecrackers.

Children should be prohibited from using any type of firecrackers to avoid any accidents, he said.

He pointed out that strict parental control is still the most effective way of preventing any firecracker-related injuries among minors./DGB, WDJ
