The University of St. La Salle (USLS) Lady Stingers are set to face the Abanse Negrense team as a prelude to the De La Salle University (DLSU) Lady Spikers-F2 Logistics Cargo Movers exhibition this Sunday, December 11 at the USLS Gym in Bacolod City.

The Lady Stingers, which came from a successful run in the 1st Mayor Gerry Rojas Tinabu-ay Women’s Open Volleyball, were using the friendly as part of their preparation for their upcoming tourney.

Leading the way for the Lady Stingers team were rookie standouts Ashley Diandra Rapiz and Nicolei Galvan, as well as veteran players Deanne Yvette Guinanao and Mahriz Cosain.

Also rostered were team captain Sayrel Bermeo, Yasmin Baylin, Juliever Ann Gabales, Hannah Dindah, Daneea Jardiolin, Armaneelyn Degracia, Mariella Garcia, Eliza Bautista, Jirah Oquendo, and Aira Denise Estanda.

The Lady Stingers squad is up against a formidable Abanse Negrense team, which was led by some former collegiate standouts from various UAAP and NCAA schools and some local volleyball stars.

Bannering the Abanse Negrense were former Ateneo Blue Eagles’ Bea Tan, Gizelle Tan and Kassandra Gequillana; Ren Hachero of University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses; and MJ Ebro of Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.

Also on their roster were former USLS players Katya Grabato, Camille Moralde, Cha Moralde, and Bianca Lizares, who also spent some time with the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers.

The Lady Stingers-Abanse Negrense exhibition will serve as a curtain raiser to the highly-anticipated friendly contest between the Lady Spikers and Cargo Movers in an event organized by GRID Athletic Sports.

Several Western Visayas-based players are set to banner the Lady Spikers in Negrenses Jessa Ordiales, Maicah Larroza, Marite Espina, and Angel Canino, and Ilongga Amie Provido.

The Cargo Movers, which recently competed in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, also had two Region 6 players in their lineup — Iloilo’s Passi City-native Abigail Marano and Bacolodnon Jessma Ramos./ASC, WDJ
