The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD) has also been placed on alert status amid the holiday season and a weather disturbance.

PDMPD head, Dr. Zeaphard Caelian said they are particularly monitoring the low pressure area (LPA) located southeast of the Visayas.

Caelian said the LPA could develop into a tropical depression.

The PDMPD head also said that the weather disturbance was forecast to move north towards Samar and Leyte provinces.

He advised the local disaster risk reduction management offices in the province to be on the lookout for flash floods.

As for the holiday season, Caelian said they would initiate Oplan: Iwas Paputok and they reminded Negrenses to be careful when using fireworks./DGB, WDJ
