Negros Oriental 3rd district Congressman Arnulfo Teves has offered a P1 million reward to those who can give information which would lead to the arrest of the suspects behind the murder of his driver, Juvanie Catubay.
Catubay was gunned down on Monday, November 28, in the province’s Sta. Catalina town by two riding-in-tandem suspects.
In a Facebook post by Teves on Tuesday, November 29, he condemned Catubay’s murder and called on the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) to swiftly resolve the case.
He also questioned how the suspects were able to use a high-powered rifle to kill his staff.
Meanwhile, NOPPO director Police Colonel Reynaldo Lizardo said it remains unclear as to what was the motive behind the murder, but he assured that they are doubling their efforts to resolve the case.
Investigators from Police Regional Office-7 are already assisting NOPPO’s ongoing probe.
Aside from killing Catubay, witnesses also told investigators that the suspects also took the victim’s motorcycle.
Recovered from the crime scene were empty 5.56 caliber and .45 caliber shells./DGB, WDJ
