A 57-year-old e-bike driver was killed after he was “sucker punched” twice by a man believed to be suffering from a mental illness in Bacolod City’s Barangay Granada on Monday afternoon, November 28.

Police identified the fatality as Wenne Diamante, a resident of Relocation Site in Matab-ang in the said village.

Based on information released by Police Station 5, Diamante and the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Eusebio Miranda, crossed paths at a bakery.

For no reason, Miranda punched Diamante twice, causing the victim to fall head first on a rock.

The suspect was chased by concerned citizens and he was later cornered at Bangga Escala in neighboring Barangay Estefania.

Diamante was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but he was dead on arrival.

Police station commander, Capt. John Christopher Masangkay said the suspect has been isolated to another jail cell due to concerns that he might hurt the other detainees.

Meanwhile, Diamante’s family expressed their intentions to press charges against Miranda./DGB, WDJ
