The Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Negros Occidental announced that it will be resuming its voters’ registration beginning December 12.
Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria, Comelec-Negros Occidental elections supervisor, said the poll body is currently waiting for the resolution from its Central Office, as their guidelines for registering new voters.
So far, based on the information they received in advance, the voters’ registration will be from December 12, 2022 to January 31, 2023.
Meanwhile, the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections are slated for October 30, 2023.
Ananoria said registered voters 15 to 30 years old can vote in the SK polls, while those 18 and above can vote in the barangay elections.
He expects the putting up of satellite offices in several barangays to cater to more registrants.
Aside from the resumption of voters’ registration, Comelec is also planning to implement the Register Anywhere Program.
However, the Comelec provincial office has yet to receive information if Bacolod City was included among the pilot areas of the program./DGB, WDJ
