Supreme ABF/SilverGraces kept its unblemished slate in the 1st United Negros Basketball League (UNBL) Open Tournament after scoring a pair of wins over the weekend at Bacolod Tay Tung High School Po Hang Gymnasium in Bacolod City.
Supreme leaned on a strong fourth quarter push from Bill Geolingo and Windel Galez to score a 79-63 victory against UNO-R Red House Taiwan Shabu-Shabu on Saturday, November 19.
Geolingo led the way for the Supreme ABF with 15 points, Clement John Madin and Ritcer Santillan added 12 and 11 markers, respectively. Jemwel Maligo and Sean Sesaldo had 11 and 10 points, respectively, for UNO-R.
The Gerome Aledron-mentored Supreme recorded its fifth consecutive win on Sunday afternoon, November 20, following a 99-75 domination of Colegio de San Agustin-Bacolod (CSA-B)/Let’s Go Strived.
It was actually a forgetful weekend for the CSA-B/Let’s Go Strived as, after starting the tournament with a 3-0 slate, they suffered back-to-back defeats as they also bowed to RA-AK Transport, 92-85, last Saturday.
CSA-B was in the driver’s seat at 67-63 late in the third quarter, but an 8-0 scoring blast by RA-AK, highlighted by back-to-back treys by Jhan Nermal, notched them a 71-67 lead.
RA-AK Transport then slowly pulled away in the fourth quarter behind the tandem of Mark Yee and Dave Patrick Yulo as they established the biggest lead at 90-79 with two minutes left.
Yee, who came from his campaign with Bacolod BingoPlus of Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, top-scored for RA-AK Transport with 23 points, while Yulo and Nermal chipped in 12 and 10 markers, respectively.
Yee, Nermal and Raymund Ilagan then pushed RA-AK Transport to a 4-1 record to close the week following a 94-69 triumph against LCC-B Team Davies Paint, which dropped to a 1-4 slate.
In other results, Acster Marketing increased its record to 3-2 after defeating Tea Tas/Puff Boss (1-4), 102-72, while University of St. La Salle Stingers notched their first win in five games after beating UNO-R Red House Taiwan Shabu (1-4), 70-62./ASC, WDJ
