A total of 44 tons of old and unused “spaghetti” wires have already been removed from telecommunication posts along Bacolod City streets.

Called hazards and an eye nuisance, the removed wires were brought to the stockyards of the telecommunication firms, and they can be endorsed to the city through a deed of donation.

“We want to make productive use of the ‘spaghetti’ wires to help sectors that may require those,” Mayor Alfredo Benitez said.

The collected wires are due to be donated to farmers in the city’s Barangay Alangilan, to be made as trellises for vegetable production.

The removal of the wires began in July after Benitez issued Executive Order No. 3 for the removal, clearing and reorganizing of all “spaghetti” wires located in the main streets, sidewalks, alleys, and public places./DGB, WDJ
