A soldier has died while four others were wounded following a shooting incident in a restobar at around 1:30 a.m. yesterday in Bacolod City’s Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Private First Class (PFC) Edmark Iwayan, 26 years old, of Barangay Balintawak in Negros Occidental’s Escalante City, was dead on-the-spot after sustaining a gunshot wound to his head and body.
Wounded were PFC Joebert Villagracia, of the province’s Moises Padilla town; Joebert Visem, restobar owner and a resident of Sipalay City; Joseph John Magahum, and suspect Ulysis Carampatana, both residents of Barangay Taculing.
The witnesses reported that the two soldiers were having a drinking session with Visem, when the suspect arrived.
An argument ensued which resulted in the suspect allegedly shooting with his .45 caliber pistol, injuring Iwayan and the others, a police report said.
The suspect and the three victims were sent to the hospital for treatment.
Carampatana could face frustrated homicide charges over the incident./DGB, WDJ
