Bacolod City identified the two festival sites in relation to the celebration of the Bacolaodiat Festival from January 19 to 22, 2023.
The festival will take place on Upper East Avenue and at the Bacolod City Government Center.
“Bacolaodiat” — coined from the words “Bacolod” and “Lao Diat” (a Chinese phrase for celebration) — is a festival to welcome the Chinese New Year, which is jointly held by the city government and the Chinese community in Bacolod.
Lacson Street has been one of the festival sites since the festival started in 2006, but it is no longer one of the festival sites, according to Councilor Jason Villarosa.
The councilor explained that this is because of traffic concerns and some complaints from several business establishments.
Meanwhile, the city will be having the Christmas Festival of Lights in the public plaza and at the Government Center on December 1 and 3, respectively./MS, WDJ
