Tanod shot dead while fishing

A barangay tanod was shot dead on-the-spot by two unidentified gunmen while he was fishing at Purok Malipayon in Bacolod City’s Barangay 35 on Sunday, November 13.

Police identified the fatality as 59-year-old Nilo Payo, a resident of the city’s Barangay 34.

Police Station 1 commander, Major Ramel Sarona said the gunmen immediately fled the scene.

Payo sustained gunshot wounds on his nose, abdomen and hands.

Sarona said Payo was previously jailed for murder, and was released in 2007 after serving a 12-year sentence.
