Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Benitez announced yesterday afternoon that he has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a message posted by the city mayor on his official social media, Benitez arrived in Manila yesterday morning from an official leave.

He was due to meet President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., and as per protocol, he had to be tested for COVID-19, which would later turn out “positive.”

“I feel okay, but with mild symptoms,” Benitez said.

The mayor assured the city residents that the day-to-day tasks of the city would continue to function well while he worked from home.

“To all the people in Bacolod, the challenges of [COVID-19] are still there. Stay safe always,” he added./DGB, WDJ
