Jarvey Gayoso had his best game as a member of Kaya Futbol Club-Iloilo as they defeated Maharlika Manila Football Club, 4-1, in the 2022-2023 Philippines Football League on Saturday, August 27, at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

The two-time UAAP champion opened the scoring when he tapped the ball at the 13th minute before coming up with back-to-back conversions at the 78th and 80th minute for another lopsided win by the Ilonggos.

In between Gayoso’s goal spree, Carlyle Mitchell converted a header in the 41st minute off an assist by Ilonggo Jhan Melliza, while Maharlika Manila managed to pull one back courtesy of OJ Clarino in the 90+4 minute.

With the victory, the Yu Hoshide-mentored Kaya-Iloilo increased their points tally to 12 points in first place behind four consecutive victories, while Maharlika Manila remained without a win in four outings.

Meanwhile, Chima Uzoka connected two goals to help Dynamic Herb-Cebu Football Club overcome Stallion-Laguna Football Club, 4-3, at the latter’s home court at the Biñan Football Stadium in Laguna.

Uzoka, who previously played for the National University Bulldogs, knocked down two headers at the 27th and 43rd minutes as part of Dynamic Herb’s 4-0 start along with hits from Mert Altinoz and Arda Cinkir.

Stallion-Laguna, however, made a late push with midfielder Finn McDaniel connecting from close range followed by back-to-back connections from Abou Sy and Bryan Ybanez to cut the deficit to 3-4.

However, Stallion-Laguna could not find an equalizer as tempers flared in the final minutes of the contest when Stallion Laguna’s Gabe Silva brought down Dynamic Herb’s Uzoka.

A scuffle broke out with Dynamic Herb Cebu’s Charles Dabao III leading the charge. Referee Meliton Pelayo then decided to give red cards to Silva and Dabao for their roles in the incident.

With the result, Dynamic Herb Cebu locked in at fourth place in the standings with four points one win, one draw, and one loss, while Stallion Laguna is in third place with six points after two wins and a defeat./ASC, WDJ
