As sugar mills in Negros Occidental roar back to life later this month, the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) has reminded cane truck drivers to properly follow height limits to avoid accidents.

BTAO head, Police Major Junji Liba, said cane trucks are only allowed a certain height limit when it comes to loading sugarcane – a 14-feet measurement from the ground up to the top of the truck.

Liba said any trucks who fail the said regulation will not be allowed to pass through Bacolod City and those who will be caught can be issued with a citation ticket.

The height limit was put in place in order to avoid trucks from hitting power lines and telecommunication cables.

Liba further added that they will strictly follow the city’s ordinance against cane trucks which are overloaded in order to avoid road accidents./DGB, WDJ
