The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation in Negros Occidental remains stable and an upsurge has yet to be seen based on the latest monitoring by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Dr. Jessica Fama, PHO’s Medical Specialist 3, said yesterday that on Monday, June 27, the province only reported one COVID-19 case while two were reported last June 26, and no case was recorded last June 25.

Fama said swab results are real time from the molecular laboratories and that those who are subject to swabbing are symptomatic individuals at the airport and in hospitals for delivering mothers, patients for surgery and suspicious cases especially those having close contacts with positive individuals.

Negros Occidental has only 18 active COVID-19 cases left as of Monday, June 27, 2022.

As for the province’s COVID-19 vaccination program, Fama revealed that as of yesterday the province has already fully vaccinated 64.47 percent of the target population and 59.04 percent of the target senior citizens.

Data also showed that 69.75 percent of the province’s residents have also received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

However, Fama noted that there was a little increase in the province’s vaccination drive this month./DGB, WDJ
