Teachers in Negros Occidental are wishing for a salary increase once Vice President-elect and incoming Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio steps into office on July 1.
In a radio interview, Ian Arnold Arnaez, DepEd-Negros Occidental information officer, said ever since in the past it has been the number one wish of the teachers to have their salaries increased.
Arnaez said also included in their wishlist are for additional facilities, classrooms and equipment for the schools in the province, as well as repairs and maintenance for the existing ones.
The DepEd official is also hoping that the incoming administration will continue the existing programs implemented by the past administrations.
Last month, President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. appointed Duterte-Carpio to become the next chief of DepEd.
Duterte-Carpio has already promised to implement full face-to-face classes in schools by August of this year.
She had also promised that she will look into increasing the salary for the teachers once she steps into office./DGB, WDJ
