The celebration of this year’s MassKara Festival will proceed and Bacolod City Mayor-elect Alfredo “Albee” Benitez is promising the best festival ever.
In a short post made on social media by Patrick Lacson and Councilor-elect Kalaw Puentevella, Benitez met with Councilor-elect Jason Villarosa and several major event organizers.
During the meeting, Benitez gave them the go ahead to begin preparations for the festival.
He has also appointed Atty. Pinky Mirano-Ocampo as festival director.
Earlier in April, outgoing Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia revealed that the MassKara Festival will return this year following a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The festival traces its beginnings after the 1980 Don Juan tragedy and the collapse of the province’s sugar industry, giving Bacolodnons and Negrosanons alike a reason to smile amid the challenging times./DGB, WDJ
