Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings’ Earl Scottie Thompson and Justin Brownlee are among the frontrunners in the individual citations in the 2021-2022 PBA Governors’ Cup.

Thompson is among the two leading contenders for the coveted Best Player of the Conference (BPC) plum, which will be given prior to Game 4 of the PBA Govs’ Cup finals between Kings and Meralco Bolts.

Thompson is second in the BPC race but has a good case for his first-ever individual award with the defending champions Kings reaching the championship round.

Also in contention for the trophy are NorthPort Batang Pier’s Robert Bolick Jr. and Arwind Santos, Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters’ Matthew Wright and TNT Tropang Giga’s Mikey Williams.

Bolick has a leading 39.9 statistical points per game (SPs), followed by Thompson with 35.0, Wright with 33.6, Santos with 33.5 and Williams with 32.6.

Brownlee, on the other hand, is also among the favored to clinch the Bobby Ray Parks Sr. Best Import of the Conference trophy for the Governors’ Cup.

Brownlee leads the stats race among the import, and could well be on his way to finally claiming the Governors’ Cup Best Import award that he missed in their title runs in 2016, 2017 and 2019.

Brownlee has previously won an PBA Best Import of the Conference but in the Commissioner’s Cup in 2018 where he slugged it out with taller rivals.

Through the semifinals round, Brownlee was ahead among the reinforcements as he averaged 53.7 SPs per game.

Magnolia Pambansang Manok Hotshots’ Michael Harris is at second with 49.2, followed by Tony Bishop of Meralco Bolts with 47.5 and Cameron Clark of NLEX Road Warriors with 41.8./ASC, WDJ
