Barcelona, Shark top Wilson 3×3 basketball

Paul Adrian Barcelona and the Shark Basketball Club emerged as champions in the 14-Under category of the Wilson 3×3 Invitational League on Sunday at the Natalio Velez Sports & Cultural Center in Silay City, Negros Occidental.

Barcelona, a standout from St. John’s Institute, spearheaded the offense for Shark as they defeated Hua Ming in the finals, 17-14. He was later adjudged as 14-Under Most Valuable Player.

Aside from Barcelona, also part of the Shark team were Thirdy Binguan, John Joseph Gerardo and Alfred Ysulan. Ryan Hugnatan served as the head coach.

Basketball Out of School Youth, meanwhile, ruled the 18-Under category as they defeated Wildcats in the finals, 16-14, behind the heroics of 18-Under MVP EJ de los Reyes.

Also part of the Basketball Out of School Youth team were Rence Ramos, James Roger Jaype and JM Jumeras Cuenca. Head coach of the team is Inly Amable.

Red Owl, on the other hand, was hailed as the champions in the 16-Under category after a 15-10 win over El Tzino in the finale. John Ordas was awarded with the MVP trophy.

Also part of the Red Owl crew of head coach Rolando Herdon were Gabriel Buenafe, Toni Alry Siglos and Richard Militante.

In the 12-Under category, Team Granada Panthers defeated Bacolod Tay Tung, 13-9, to clinch the division crown. Ivan Mendoza was named as MVP.

Also members of the Team Granada Panthers were Kobe Antonio, Leou Leonero and Rhett Tabanao. Erning Cagayao called the shots for the Panthers.

Over at the Hofileña Gym, Migs clinched the 21-Under championship with a 16-14 escape over SBMB. Kenji Cañete was adjudged as the MVP winner.

Aside from Cañete, who is a member of Letran Knights’ high school team, also playing for Migs team were Miguel Dosayla, Terrence Ruel and Louie Villarosa./ASC, WDJ
