As the country’s coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) situation continues to improve and with destinations now opening their doors to tourists, Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson confirmed yesterday that they were approached by Cebu Pacific requesting to open up additional flights between Manila and Bacolod.
According to Lacson, they are now studying Cebu Pacific’s proposal and if they confirm that the country’s COVID-19 situation improves further, then they will consider the airline’s request.
So far, Lacson is unable to confirm if Philippine Airlines and AirAsia Philippines have submitted similar requests.
At present, flights between Manila and the Bacolod-Silay Airport is limited at two flights per airline per day, while flights between Mactan-Cebu and Bacolod-Silay Airport is one flight per airline per week./DGB, WDJ
