Dindin Santiago-Manabat had a solid debut as Nakhon Ratchasima QminC import as they defeated 3BB Nakornnont, 25-17, 25-15, 25-22, in the 2021-22 Volleyball Thailand League on Sunday at the Nimibutr Stadium in Bangkok.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers star made her presence felt in her first as Nakhon Ratchasima QminC’s import as they improved to 5-4, still at fourth place in the standings.
Mylene Paat, a teammate of Santiago-Manabat at Crossovers and Nakhon, continued her fine plays for the Thai volleyball team for their first win in the second round of the competition.
Santiago-Manabat, Paat and Nakhon Ratchasima showed their dominance in the first two sets by jumping to early advantages en route to taking a 2-0 set advantage.
Nakornnont kept the match close in the third with the score tied at 19-all, but they committed consecutive errors before Paat wrapped up the win with an attack.
Santiago-Manabat and Paat looked to build on this win and make it back-to-back when they face second-ranked Diamond Food tomorrow afternoon.
Over at Japan, Marck Espejo and FC Tokyo completed their 2021-2022 V.League season sweep over Bryan Bagunas and Oita Miyoshi Weisse Adler with a 26-24, 22-25, 31-29, 25-20 beating on Sunday at the Sumida City Gymnasium.
Espejo finished the match with nine points, on seven attacks, one block and one service ace, as the FC Tokyo won all of its four matches against the Weisse Adler this season.
Norwegian reinforcement Jonas Kvalen led the way for Oita Miyoshi (8-16) with 22 points including three kill blocks, while Yuma Nagatomo also got 22 points.
Bagunas, meanwhile, finished with team-high 21 points, while Venezuelan import Emerson Rodriguez added 19 markers as the Weisse Adler dropped to 5-19 at ninth place./ASC, WDJ
