San Carlos City candidates ink peace covenant

The Philippine Army’s 79th Infantry (Masaligan) Battalion  joined the peace covenant signing of the local candidates of San Carlos City in Negros Occidental together with heads of cognizant government agencies at the Parish Pastoral Center on February 4.

Though the local candidates are all running unopposed, a peace covenant signing was still conducted to enjoin their support and commitment to achieve a safe, accurate, fair, and free National and Local Elections come May 9, 2022.

In attendance during the activity were Atty. Kathrina Trinio-Caña, Acting Election Officer; Lieutenant Colonel J-jay Javines, 79IB Commanding Officer; Police Lt. Col. Jesus Mesahon, San Carlos City police chief; Abdul Gafar, Imam Jamaah Muslim Community; Msgr. Erwin Magnanao, VICAR General; and Mayor Renato Gustilo together with his candidates for vice mayor and councilor positions.

In his message, Javines urged the candidates to genuinely commit and faithfully abide themselves with the tenets of the covenant for a safe and free national and local elections./WDJ
