A total of 413 farmers in Negros Occidental’s Calatrava town benefited from P1.3 million worth of crop insurance.

Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist led by OIC Dr. Dina Genzola led the recent distribution of checks to the beneficiaries who are enrolled under the provincial government’s Agri-Fishery Program.

The Agri-Fishery Insurance Program is a joint initiative between the provincial government and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), which aims to protect and insure agricultural crops of Negrense farmers.

Farmers enrolled under this program are entitled to financial claims for crop damages brought about by natural calamities and pests infestation aggravated by climate change.

Aside from the insurance claims, the farmers also received high value crops seeds./WDJ
