Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson remains cautious and has opted to limit flights originating from Metro Manila.
Lacson pointed out that even though the National Capital Region (NCR) has already slipped to Alert Level 2, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed that the NCR still has a positivity rate of above 20 percent.
He pointed out that the standard positivity rate should be five percent which is set by the World Health Organization.
“The facts show that NCR’s positivity rate is still very high,” Lacson explained.
Because of this, Lacson said passenger flights to the Bacolod-Silay Airport will remain at two flights per airline per day.
However, he said airlines are free to avail of one inbound cargo flight and one additional outbound flight per day.
Flights between Bacolod and Cebu, meanwhile, remain at one per week.
Lacson added he will only allow more additional flights once it is confirmed that the positivity rate in the NCR has gone down dramatically./DGB, WDJ
