Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson reminded the public not to treat any fever as a normal case, but mind it instead as a suspected COVID-19 symptom and isolate.
Lacson made the reminder yesterday morning after it was observed that fever, colds and cough have become prevalent. He said everyone is currently treating it as common or normal because of the existing weather condition.
He revealed that he personally witnessed yesterday on his way to Hinoba-an town that several people do not use masks anymore despite the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
Meanwhile, the governor has already ordered two additional COVID-19 designated hospitals and quarantine facilities in case the number of cases continue to surge.
“What we are doing now is the same as what we did during the prevalence of the Delta variant,” Lacson said.
At present, the province is utilizing the Cadiz District Hospital as the province’s only designated COVID-19 hospital.
Reserved in case of a spike in COVID-19 cases are the Valladolid District Hospital and Valeriano Gatuslao District Hospital in Himamaylan City.
Lacson has also agreed on the temporary closure of Silay City government offices for five days to give way to a thorough disinfection of the premises and to prevent the spread of COVID-19. /DGB, WDJ
