Ilongga volleybelle Fiola Ceballos is suiting up for a new team ahead of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Season after agreeing to a deal with PLDT High Speed Hitters.
The High Speed Hitters announced the acquisition of the Bingawan, Iloilo-native Ceballos yesterday after two years of stay with sister team Cignal HD Spikers.
The 5-foot-6 outside hitter was a former standout of Central Philippine University Golden Lions in Iloilo City. She was famous for her beach volleyball partnership with Guimarasnon Jovelyn Gonzaga.
The 27-year-old Ceballos was then recruited to play in Manila for club teams Foton Tornadoes (now Chery Tiggo Crossovers), Generika-Ayala Lifesavers and HD Spikers.
The Ilongga outside hitter was the third Western Visayas-based player in High Speed Hitters’ roster aside from Bago City, Negros Occidental-native Christine Joy Soyud and Malay, Aklan’s Dell Palomata.
The High Speed Hitters also announced the signing of setters Wendy Anne Semana and Lhara Clavano to strengthen the team’s playmaking department.
Semana is a former Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws standout in UAAP before playing for Cagayan Valley Rising Suns, RC Cola-Army Lady Troopers, Pocari Sweat, and Philippine Air Force.
Clavaro, on the other hand, previously played for University of the East Lady Warriors in the UAAP and before joining club teams Cherrylume and Pocari Sweat.
Other players in PLDT lineup are Rhea Dimaculangan, Toni Rose Basas, Nieza Viray, Kath Arado, Jessey de Leon, Mean Mendrez, and Jovielyn Prado.
The High Speed Hitters, now under head coach George Pascua, aims to bounce back from a 3-6 performance during the 2021 PVL Open Conference in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte./ASC, WDJ
