San Carlos City commemorates Rizal’s 125th death anniversary

The city government of San Carlos in Negros Occidental joined the whole nation in honoring the 125th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Philippine’s national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, yesterday morning at the Rizal Square of the City Public Plaza.

Mayor Renato Gustilo together with Sangguniang Panlungsod member Carlos Manuel Valmayor led the ceremonial flag raising and the offering rite at the hero’s statue.

The District II of the local Department of Education (DepEd) facilitated the event attended by the local department heads of the city government headed by City Administrator Atty. Estefanio Libutan Jr.

Also present were the representatives of the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Veterans Federation of the Philippines-San Carlos, and the Boys and Girls Scouts of the Philippines.

Alongside said event, the District II of DepEd San Carlos also held a Pamaskong Handog: a gift giving to 55 beneficiaries who are victims of the Parola fire in Barangay 6 last August 31, 2021./WDJ
