An additional 438 Banago residents received medical, burial and educational assistance from the Department of Interior and the Local Government (DILG), through the agency’s ELCAC-Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program at the Banago Elementary School Gym on Friday, December 24.

Mayor Evelio Leonardia, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran and Banago Punong Barangay Ricky Mijares led the third batch of payout to the beneficiaries.

Of the 438 beneficiaries, 37 received burial assistance, 178 received medical assistance and 223 received educational assistance.

“If you ask me if I love Banago, I do love Banago. This is the barangay that I have visited the most,” Leonardia said.

Familiaran also reminded them to remain vigilant and observe minimum health protocols.

It’s because of the vaccination program of the city that cases now are mostly asymptomatic and mild, the vice mayor added.

“Our mayor is always here for Barangay Banago,” said Mijares, adding that it was through the efforts of Leonardia that the DILG was able to extend the ELCAC assistance.

College students received P10,000; senior high school beneficiaries got P5,000; and P3,000 were given to junior high school students as educational assistance./WDJ
