Authorities identified the fatalities as three-year-old Cheska Sombesi, seven-year-old Erlie John Sombesi, and 12-year-old Rose Jane Sombesi.

According to Fire Officer 2 Neil Bandillo of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in San Carlos City, the siblings were found inside their respective rooms.

Bandillo said the three were believed to be sleeping when the fire ravaged their house.

Based on initial investigation by arson investigators, the fire was caused by a leftover candle which was placed in the house’s floor.

The area where the fire occurred still did not have any power following the onslaught of super typhoon “Odette” last week.

Aside from the Sombesi residence, 11 other houses were also either damaged or destroyed in the blaze.

The BFP is still calculating the cost of the damages./DGB, WDJ
