The Department of Health (DOH) – Center for Health Development in Western Visayas gave the Bacolod City Health Office (CHO) the coveted Gold Awards for meeting the benchmarks set by the agency for two of its major programs.

Dr. Edwin Miraflor, Jr., CHO officer-in-charge, said his unit is a recipient of two Gold Awards for posting a 0.67 percent Population Testing Rate and for its efforts in Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment as of the third quarter of 2021.

The Bacolod City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit and the Field Health Services Information System Unit were also recognized for their support and dedication amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Miraflor received the awards on behalf of Mayor Evelio Leonardia in a virtual regional recognition of partners and stakeholders ceremony via Webex last December 10.

“All credit goes out to the men and women of the City Health Office. It is because of their hard work and commitment that we were able to get this award,” he said.

Earlier this year, the CHO bagged the two Top Performing City Health Office Awards after achieving 94 percent success rate in Drug Susceptible Tuberculosis Treatment and Provider-Initiated Counseling and Testing for the year 2020.

The CHO was also cited as the Top Performing Rapid TB Diagnostic Laboratory for its stellar performance in case finding, case holding, recording and reporting of the Programmatic Management of Drug – Resistant Tuberculosis to the National Tuberculosis Control Program./WDJ
