The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office was among the 29 DRRMOs in Western Visayas that recently received an award for being fully compliant with the assessment made by the Regional DRRM Council for 2021.

Bacolod DRRMO head, Dr. Anna Maria Laarni Pornan, presented the plaque and token to Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Monday, December 6.

Pornan said the city was among the 29 out of 133 local government units (LGUs) or, only 21.8 percent, consisting of provinces, cities and municipalities in Region 6 that passed the mandatory assessment criteria based on four thematic areas of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management: Disaster Prevention and Mitigation; Disaster Preparedness; and Disaster Response and Disaster Recovery/Rehabilitation.

Joining Pornan at the presentation were Executive Assistant to the City Mayor and Cluster Head of DRRMO Jose Maria B. Vargas, Administration and Training Section Chief Bernadeth B. Montelibano and City Councilor Dindo C. Ramos./WDJ
