17 more WV schools allowed to hold face-to-face classes

Seventeen more Western Visayas-based public schools were approved by the Department of Education (DepEd) to participate in the pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes as part of its expansion phase.

In a list released by DepEd yesterday, 11 schools from Negros Occidental, two from Aklan, one each from Antique, Iloilo province, Capiz, and Guimaras have been added to the initial list of the pilot implementers.

Public schools in Negros Occidental are Alangilan National High School (Bacolod City), Hiyang Hiyang Elementary School (Cadiz City), Mabini National High School (Escalante City), Raymund T. Tongson National High School (Himamaylan City), Valladolid National High School (Valladolid), Aguntilang Elementary School (Isabela), Colinia Divina Integrated School (Sagay City), Don Carlos Ledesma National High School (San Carlos City), Patag Diotay Elementary School (Silay City), Mauboy Elementary School (Sipalay City), and Victorias National High School (Victorias City).

Allowed to conduct face-to-face classes in Aklan are Malinao School for Philippine Craftsmen in Malinao and Banga Elementary School in Banga, as well as Antique National High School in San Jose in Antique; Mulapula National High School in Passi City in Iloilo; Olotayan Integrated School in Roxas City, Capiz; and Paaralan ng Buhay na Talas (Talas Elementary School) in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.

According to DepEd, the mentioned schools have been evaluated in coordination with the Department of Health (DOH) and their respective local government units (LGUs).

“Ang mga bagong paaralan na lalahok sa pilot run ay pumasa sa iba’t ibang safety assessment na isinagawa ng DepEd at DOH,” the agency said in a statement yesterday.

Those that were identified in Western Visayas have been allowed to start the pilot run of face-to-face classes in various dates within this year, the DepEd further said.

Last month, three Western Visayas-based schools in Laserna Integrated School in Nabas, Aklan; Igsoro Elementary School School in Bugasong, Antique and Mayabay Elementary School in Barbaza, Antique were allowed for face-to-face class pilot run./WDJ
