The provincial government of Negros Occidental will also begin the distribution of COVID-19 booster shots for senior citizens and persons with comorbidities soon.
Provincial administrator, Atty. Rayfrando Diaz, said according to the guidelines set by the Department of Health (DOH), booster shots can be given to fully vaccinated individuals six months after the second dose.
Diaz also confirmed that there are already requests coming in as to when they could get the booster shots and he assured them that they are already working as to when they could be accommodated.
“I think diutay man lang sila, so during the vaccination program at the Negros Residences I think pwede ta naman sila ipasulod,” he said.
As of November 21, data from the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed that 408,050 individuals or 22.35 percent of province’s target population are already fully-vaccinated against COVID-19.
Victorias City is currently the top performer in this week’s vaccination drive with 56.57 percent of their total target population already receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
La Carlota City followed with 53.15 percent and the town of Pulupandan with 47.37 percent./DGB, WDJ
