Three Bacolod City-based players were lined up in the inaugural leg of the PBA 3×3 basketball competition, which will begin on November 20 at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Bacolodnon Luis Alfonso “LA” Revilla will spearhead the NorthPort Batang Pier 3×3 squad along with Michael Calisaan, Jeepy Faundo and rookie Mark Olayon.
Nico Paolo Javelona, on the other hand, will play for the Purefoods TJ Titans team along with Joseph Eriobu, Hezy Val Acuña, Jun Bonsubre, and Jed Mendoza.
Rookie Jeff Manday, meanwhile, will banner the San Miguel Beermen 3×3 team along with Louie Vigil, Raymond Austria and James Mangahas.
Batang Pier and the Beermen are both slotted in Pool C of the 3×3 competition along with CAVITEX Braves and Pioneer Pro Tibay.
TJ Titans, on the other hand, is bracketed at Pool A along with TNT Tropang Giga, Limitless Appmasters, Zamboanga Valientes, and Platinum Karaoke.
Squads in Pool B, meanwhile, are Barangay Ginebra San Miguel 3×3, Terrafirma Dyip 3×3, Meralco Bolts 3×3, and Sista Super Sealers.
The top three teams in Pool A and top two in Pools B and C, respectively, after group stage matches will advance to the quarterfinals round.
The third best teams in Pools B and C, on the other hand, will figure in a knockout game for the eighth and last quarterfinals berth.
Both the quarterfinals and semifinals are knockout matches, with the two surviving teams after the semis will figure in a one-game winner-take-all finals.
The leg champion will take home P100,000 cash prize while the runner-up and third placer will receive P50,000 and P30,000, respectively./ASC, WDJ
