About two million registered voters in Negros Occidental are expected to vote for the 2022 elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Negros Occidental said.

Provincial election supervisor Atty. Ian Lee Ananoria said the last hearings for the Election Registration Board had already wrapped up last November 10.

However, Ananoria said a final verification will be conducted next week by the poll agency.

The final number of voters in the province is expected to be released by Thursday, November 18.

Ananoria said that currently there are 1.9 million registered voters.

He added that voters should check their names in the master list if it’s officially released already by the Comelec to know their precinct numbers so they will not be confused on election day.

“The Comelec will also make adjustments because of the pandemic by limiting the number of voters in a classroom,” Ananoria said.

Negros Occidental is the fifth vote rich area in the country, and some consider the province as a “battleground” for national candidates./DGB, WDJ
