2021-2022 JAPAN B.LEAGUE Ray Parks scores 23, Nagoya turns back Mikawa

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Nagoya Diamond Dolphins cruised to a 101-75 victory over Mikawa Seahorses in the 2021-2022 Japan B.League Division I on Sunday night at the Wing Arena.

The former PBA cager came up with 23 points, on 8-of-14 shooting, to go with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal as the Diamond Dolphins heads to the league break with 8-6 win-loss slate.

Parks ignited the Diamond Dolphins’ offense in the opening quarter with seven early points for an 11-point lead. The lead grew further in the second half as it reached 54-28 on consecutive points from the Filipino import.

Scott Eatherton backed up Parks on scoring with 21 points, on 9-of-14 shooting, with 14 rebounds while Tenketsu Harimoto got 15 points on three treys for the Diamond Dolphins.

Jarrod Uthoff, meanwhile, scored 24 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Yudai Nishida and Ryogo Sumino finished with 13 and 11 points, respectively, as Seahorses dropped to 9-5.

Meanwhile, Kobe Paras’ strong showing was not enough as the Niigata Albirex BB fell short of an upset try over defending champions Chiba Jets, 88-83, at the Funabashi Arena.

The former University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons star had a decent field goal shooting of 6-of-8 to finish with 15 points as the Niigata Albirex suffered its 11th straight defeat for a 2-12.

Rosco Allen finished with 26 points, nine rebounds and six assists while former NBA player Jeff Ayres contributed 14 points and eight boards for the cellar-dwelling Niigata Albirex.

Ilonggo Kiefer Ravena, for his part, was held to just seven points with five turnovers as the Shiga Lakestars slumped to its sixth straight defeat after being beaten by Shinshu, 90-80.

In Division II action, Juan Gomez de Liano went scoreless in 17 minutes of action as Earthfriends Tokyo Z suffered a 76-55 defeat to Koshiyaga to remain winless in 13 matches./ASC, WDJ
