After trading away Arwind Santos to NorthPort Batang Pier, another key member of San Miguel Beermen’s (SMB) numerous PBA championship runs is set to be shipped out.
In a report by Spin.ph’s Homer Sayson, the Beermen is looking to unload veteran guard Alex Cabagnot to the Terrafirma Dyip to gain the services of three-point gunners Simon Enciso and Roosevelt Adams.
The said three-team, two-player trade was reportedly being planned for weeks now and is just waiting for the approval of PBA Commissioner’s Office trade panel to be completed.
The impending trade will end Cabagnot’s close to a decade of stay with the Beermen, which was highlighted by eight PBA championships and one PBA Finals MVP.
The 38-year-old Cabagnot was a valuable member of the Beermen the past few seasons and has carried the team to several crucial wins with his clutch shooting.
The 16-year veteran, however, was slowed down by injuries that allowed him to play just four games for the Beermen in the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup bubble in Bacolor, Pampanga.
Cabagnot, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2005 PBA Rookie Draft, still have decent numbers to show in four games as he averaged 12.25 points, 3.75 rebounds and 2.75 assists in 25 minutes.
The Beermen’s desire to have Enciso and Adams in its rebuilding is not a surprise as both players displayed impressive numbers for Blackwater Bossing and Dyip in the last conference.
Enciso, who arrived at the Dyip in a trade for Rashawn McCarthy last September, normed 13.7 points, 4.1 assists and 2.8 rebounds in 11 games for the Bossing.
Adams, the No.1 overall pick in the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft, also had a good conference for the Dyip with averages of 11.22 points and 7.44 rebounds in nine games./ASC, WDJ
