Negros Occidental Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer yesterday said he along with Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will meet with the 31 mayors in the province in order to consult them regarding the presidential candidate they would support in the upcoming 2022 National Elections.
Despite the talks, Ferrer said they would still respect the decision of the local mayors as to the presidential candidate they would support.
Ferrer, meanwhile, stated he would support any presidential candidate who will be able to introduce programs which would definitely benefit Negros Occidental.
The vice governor further stated the key factor as to who they would back is someone who will be able to revive the Negros Island Region once he or she steps into office.
Negros Occidental is the fifth vote rich province in the country with almost 1.9 million registered voters based on a data released by the Commission on Elections in 2019, although the number is expected to climb higher for the 2022 polls following the end of the voter registration last October 30, 2021./DGB, WDJ
